Helianthus annuus
Also called Sunflower, it is an annual plant, the flowering tops of which contain diuretic, stomachic and digestive medicinal substances: they stimulate digestion and calm gastrointestinal spasms.
Achillea millefolium
It is the medicinal herb par excellence. Used since ancient times by farmers to treat small wounds, it has haemostatic, purifying and stimulating properties. It is a herbaceous, perennial and aromatic plant, it can be used instead of chamomile as it contains azulene and is useful for digestive disorders.
Calendula officinalis
From cooking to cosmetics, Marigold finds its own space, bringing its properties and benefits. Its extract has soothing and calming effects, for red and irritated skin or as an antiacneic. But also in the kitchen, the petals and the entire Marigold flower can be used to prepare soups, risottos, salads, to give dishes a distinctive taste.
Centaurea cyanus
Or even simply Cornflower. Its blue color makes it recognizable, both in the fields and in the resulting products. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is used for eye drops and eye rinses.
Salvia officinalis
Sage, whose name derives from salvus, healthy, has been used in the kitchen since ancient times, as an aromatic plant. Among the main effects, sage is an antiseptic, but it is also endowed with digestive and calming power.
Gentiana lutea
Better known simply as Gentian. The root, fragrant and bitter in taste, is used to aid digestion and stimulate appetite.
It is widely used in liquor distillation, entering the composition of various bitters.
Thymus vulgaris
More simply, Thyme, it is used in cooking to flavor soups and meats or to create blends of herbal teas and infusions. Its properties are many, to name a few, thyme is an antiseptic, antispasmodic, disinfectant, sedative and tonic.
Hyssopus officinalis
Or more simply Hyssop, it is a very ancient aromatic plant, cultivated for its therapeutic properties (expectorant, digestive) and for uses in the kitchen. It has a minty, slightly bitter flavor and can be added to soups, salads or meats, always sparingly.
Sambucus
Or Elderflower, typical of the woods, countryside and mountains where it grows wild. It is used to create fresh syrups with a unique and unmistakable flavour. It is diaphoretic in colds.
Lippia citriodora
Or even lemon verbena, it is used in cosmetics, herbal medicine, for the preparation of herbal teas, infusions and packs and in the kitchen for liqueurs, jams, fruit salads and as a spice. It has a significant amount of melatonin, a substance used as a natural relaxant that promotes night sleep.
Melissa officinalis
Lemon balm needs no introduction, it is already known for its medicinal properties and also appreciated as an aromatic herb and for the preparation of thirst-quenching infusions with a citrus flavor. It is currently also used as a sedative.
Mentha citrata
Also known as Bergamot mint for its characteristic citrus scent, it has leaves with a refreshing and regenerating smell. Bergamot mint is used to make a tea that tastes similar to lemonade.
Mentha piperita
La Menta piperita, regina dell’aromaterapia, tonificante del sistema nervoso e dell’apparato digerente, del fegato in particolare, agisce anche come analgesico e antisettico, digestivo e calmante per mal di denti ed emicrania. With its essence you can prepare drinks and sweets, as well as decongestant herbal teas.
Monarda citriodora
Monarda Citriodora, native to North America, is a plant characterized by a pleasant citrus taste of which the flowers and small leaves can be used as an aromatic herb or to flavor meat and fish dishes.
Rosmarinus officinalis
Who doesn't know rosemary? Its twigs and leaves have aromatic properties, stimulate appetite and digestive functions. They help the intestine, are tonic and stimulating for the nervous system, liver and gallbladder.
Jalapeño
It is one of the most used chilies in cooking due to its moderate spicy taste. Among the beneficial substances it contains there is certainly capsaicin which has analgesic properties, fights bacteria, is anti-carcinogenic and can help reduce bad cholesterol in people suffering from obesity problems.
Cayenne chili
Grown according to natural methods on the fields of the Mezzana farm, the chili develops its characteristic flavor thanks to the slow ripening in the heat of southern Ticino. It is rich in vitamin A and several other vitamins, such as B6 and E, in addition to riboflavin, potassium and manganese.
Habanero
Known for its high degree of spiciness, Habanero is a variety of chili typical of the Yucatán peninsula. There are many types, including Chocolate, Orange and Red Savina.
Naga Morich
Naga Morich is a variety of chili originating from Bangladesh and northeastern India. It is one of the hottest chilies in the world and has interesting vasodilating properties with beneficial effects for circulation.
Carolina Reaper
The result of the union between Naga Morich and Habanero, the Carolina Reaper won the Guinness Book of Records as the hottest chili in the world. The taste of this chili is fruity, sweet, with hints of cinnamon and chocolate.
